Today as a matter of fact, today we see an ongoing merger of the worlds of data processing and telecommunication. Realized by a technology enabled to transport telecommunication data over standart datacommunication networks, commonly known IT components like routers and firewall apply for the infrastructure needed. In order to optimize DEFENDO for the demands of internet telephony, we implemented a SIP proxy which enables to run a number of telephones behind DEFENDO set up in the LAN.

The SIP proxy provides for incomming calls that each of the phones can be called up directly from outside. At the other hand speech needs to be transmitted free of interruption and therefore DEFENDO can be set to higher priority for speech pakets versus other data pakets.
